Mapelastic

Mapelastic is a two-component cementitious mortar, elastic down to –20°C, used for waterproofing balconies, roofs, bathrooms, swimming pools, and retaining walls. It contains cement-based binders, selected fine aggregates, special additives, and synthetic polymers in an aqueous solution, according to a formulation developed in Mapei’s research laboratories. When the two components are mixed, the product becomes a low-viscosity mixture, easy to apply even on vertical surfaces, in thicknesses up to 2 mm in a single coat.

Waterproofing of gypsum board surfaces, plasters, or cement-based substrates, aerated concrete elements, and marine plywood.
Flexible protection of thin concrete structures that are subject to slight deformation under load (e.g., precast elements).
Protection of plasters or concrete surfaces that show superficial cracking due to shrinkage phenomena, against water penetration and aggressive atmospheric agents.
Protection of concrete columns and beams, as well as road and railway bridge structures repaired with Mapegrout products, and structures with insufficient concrete cover depth, against carbon dioxide penetration.
Protection of concrete surfaces exposed to seawater, de-icing salts such as sodium or calcium chlorides, and sulfate salts.

It remains elastic even at very low temperatures (–20°C).
CE-certified product, compliant with EN 1504-2.
Provides concrete surface protection against CO₂ penetration (carbonation) for more than 50 years.
UV-resistant. 2.5 mm of Mapelastic is equivalent to 30 mm of concrete in resisting the aggressive action of chlorides (water/cement ratio 0.45).
Can also be applied over existing coatings.
Compatible with ceramic tile, mosaic, and natural stone coverings.

Application by hand: approximately 1.7 kg/m² for a 1 mm layer.
Application by spray using a mortar pump: approximately 2.2 kg/m² for a 1 mm layer.
