Mapetherm System XPS

The Mapetherm System XPS is an advanced external thermal insulation system based on the use of extruded polystyrene (XPS), offering high thermal performance, exceptional mechanical strength, and almost zero water absorption. It is ideal for applications requiring resistance to mechanical stress or impact, such as high-traffic areas. At the same time, it ensures complete dimensional stability and tensile strength, making it suitable as a substrate for cladding with natural or artificial stone, as well as ceramic tiles. The system provides long-term protection, energy savings, and an excellent aesthetic finish.

The Mapetherm System XPS is a multi-layer adhesive system consisting of:

  • Thermal insulation panels made of extruded polystyrene with a rough surface for better adhesion and CE marking.
  • Fibre-reinforced, cement-based adhesive, resin-modified: Mapetherm AR1 GG (coarse-grained) or Mapetherm AR1 (fine-grained).
  • Alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh (Mapetherm Net), weight 150 g/m², width 100 cm, with a 5.0 x 5.0 mm square mesh.
  • Mechanical fixing anchors for securing the insulation panels.
  • Water-based primer, high-quality colored acrylic Quarzolite Base Coat or silicone-based Silancolor Base Coat.
  • Final organic coating, ready-to-use acrylic plaster Quarzolite Tonachino with high elasticity, water repellency, breathability, and resistance to mold and microorganisms; or Silancolor Tonachino, an inorganic silicone-based plaster (resin in aqueous solution) offering high water repellency and creating “self-cleaning” surfaces. The material is highly breathable, flexible, and resistant to dirt, mold, and microorganisms.
  • Reinforcing corner beads and drip-edge corner beads (PVC with fiberglass mesh on both sides) for strengthening external corners.

In addition to the materials mentioned above, the system also includes complementary products necessary for the complete and professional execution of the installation.
