The term Green Roof includes all the necessary construction measures—such as flat roof thermal insulation, slope formation, waterproofing, drainage, and planting—so that a building’s roof is properly insulated while also being functionally and aesthetically utilised as usable space.
A green roof, when combined with appropriate insulation materials, significantly enhances the building’s thermal insulation performance and protects the roof waterproofing system, thereby extending its service life. At the same time, it contributes to the reduction of external noise pollution by at least 10 dB, improving overall living comfort.
The examples below refer to an extensive green roof system, where the thickness of the growing medium is relatively small (from 6 cm to 20 cm). This solution does not impose significant additional structural loads and is characterised by lower construction costs, making it an ideal choice for both existing and new buildings.
