Inverted Roof Insulation is a modern and reliable solution for both trafficable and non-trafficable flat roofs.
In an inverted roof insulation system, the waterproofing layers are installed directly on the load-bearing structure or on the sloping layer and are thermally and mechanically protected by the thermal insulation boards. At the same time, however, water can flow between the waterproofing layers (lower layer) and the thermal insulation boards (upper layer), or may remain stagnant for long periods. This can result in reduced thermal insulation performance and, at the same time, poses a risk of water ingress at vulnerable points.
For this reason, properly designed slopes must always be created, particular attention must be given to waterproofing details, only extruded polystyrene (XPS) should be used as the thermal insulation material, and it must be ensured that all drainage paths leading to the rainwater outlets remain unobstructed.
